Child Care Coordinator

This full-time position operates as part of the YMCA Child Care Department at the Knute Nelson location.

Under the direction of the YMCA Child Care Director, the Child Care Coordinator oversees the day-to-day operations of the child care center and contributes to the overall goals and mission of the YMCA. The individual must demonstrate and enforce the core values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility and provide for the safety and individual needs of the children and families. 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Work with the Child Care Director to maintain a quality Child Care environment following Department of Human Services (DHS) Rule 3 regulations regarding child care and YMCA policies. This includes, but is not limited to, standards of maintaining a safe physical environment, staff-to-child ratios, supervision, required documentation, and child guidance methods.
  2. Obtain required number of annual training hours as determined by DHS through workshops, conferences, in-service training, and staff meetings.
  3. Communicate respectfully and professionally with parents/guardians via face-to-face, email, and phone conversations.
  4. Ensure that DHS standards for child enrollment are met including age requirements, staff-to-child ratios and individual records.
  5. Partner with YMCA Child Care Coordinator to manage all aspects of child enrollment including parent contact, billing, maintaining DHS required documentation and record retention
  6. Directly supervise and support child care staff and work with the Child Care Staffing Coordinator to train and schedule child care staff. Offer regular evaluations and quality feedback.
  7. Attend and participate in special events as scheduled; attend other YMCA functions as necessary.
  8. Arrive at work on time and be accountable for given break/lunch time.
  9. Performs other duties as assigned.
  10. Build relationships and engagement with staff and families
  11. Oversee the Intergenerational programming by providing support between the child care staff and Knute Nelson activities staff.
  12. To ensure compliance with state licensing ratio, time in a classroom will be required.

Qualifications:

  • Be committed to the mission and goals of the YMCA and Child Care Center.
  • Must meet DHS Rule 3 Teacher qualifications.
  • Post-secondary education and formal child care experience is required. Credits and hours required vary based on area of study and degree (if any) earned.
  • Three or more years of experience in the early childhood is preferred but not required.
  • Must complete and have a non-disqualified background study record.
  • Must be certified in CPR, First Aid and Bloodborne Pathogens or obtain within the first 90 days of employment.
  • Proof of completion of SIDS, Abusive Head Trauma, Child Abuse Prevention and Reporting before interaction with children.
  • Must take CACFP food program training and YMCA 101 within the first 90 days of employment.

Individual must be energetic, friendly, demonstrate a positive attitude and have strong verbal and written communication skills to positively interact with a variety of people.

YMCA Child Care, Assistant Teacher

This part-time position operates as part of the YMCA Child Care Department, working in a variety of classrooms at the YMCA Child Care at Knute Nelson location. 

Required to have some level of post-secondary education, preferably in early childhood, and/or some experience in licensed early childhood facilities.

Under the direction of the Child Care Director and the Lead Teacher, this individual will implement developmentally appropriate activities for an assigned group of children and assist the Lead Teacher as needed.

Swim Instructor

This part-time position operates as part of the Aquatics Department.

The Swim Instructor will build effective, authentic relationships with students and parents while instructing swimming lessons in accordance with the YMCA guidelines, having prepared lesson plans accordingly. All YMCA policies, rules, regulations and procedures, including emergency and safety procedures will be followed.

Lifeguard

This part time position operates as part of the Aquatics Department.

The Lifeguard will provide direct supervision of the pool and provide a quality experience to children and parents. Rules will be enforced in a polite, courteous, fair and consistent manner. Focus will be on safety and the YMCA's core values.

Red Cross or YMCA Lifeguard Certification is required, but can be provided upon hire.

This part time position operates as part of the Building and Grounds Department.

Job Summary
Cleaning, sanitizing, wet and dust mopping, scrubbing, polishing, trash removal and supply stocking, in locker room facilities, restroom facilities, group fitness studios, hallways and gymnasiums. Additional duties may include vacuuming, window washing, meeting set up, trash removal and other related general cleaning responsibilities.

Currently seeking applicants with daytime availability 2 - 3 days per week. Flexible daytime hours are flexible. 

Background in housekeeping or cleaning of any kind are beneficial.

Shifts offered Saturdays and Sundays, lengths may vary to be flexible with daytime or evening work hours.
